Explore Aruba: Top 10 Family-Friendly Hikes and Scenic Trails

While Aruba is renowned for its stunning beaches and exciting activities, it also offers some easy and family-friendly hiking options. At Arikok National Park, you can explore natural pools, rock arches, and unique desert landscapes.

Although Aruba’s hikes may not boast the dramatic scenery of U.S. national parks, they offer a chance to escape the crowds and enjoy beautiful coastal views while getting some exercise.

Here’s our guide to the best hikes on the island, including tips and details for each trail. If you have any favorite hikes not mentioned here, feel free to share them in the comments!

1. Conchi Natural Pool

The Conchi Natural Pool is a highlight of Arikok National Park. This turquoise tide pool, enclosed by rocky walls, offers a refreshing swim away from the crashing waves. You can reach the pool by joining a jeep tour or hiking from the Arikok Visitor’s Center. The hike is long and exposed, so start early, and be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water.

  • Distance: 10.5 km (6.5 mi) roundtrip
  • Time: 3 – 4 hours

2. Daimari to Conchi Natural Pool

A more scenic route to the Conchi Natural Pool is from Daimari Bay. This path is slightly easier and follows the coastline, passing Boca Keto—a rugged twin beach with a unique rock formation known as ‘Klein Aruba’ (Miniature Aruba). This route is more remote, so make sure to park before the rough road and carry essentials.

  • Distance: 4 km (2.5 mi) roundtrip
  • Time: 60 – 90 minutes

3. Seroe Colorado Natural Bridge

For those seeking a less-visited rock bridge, the Seroe Colorado Natural Bridge is a great option. Located on Aruba’s southern tip, this bridge resembles a picture frame for the ocean. The hike is short but challenging, with sharp rocks and a steep descent. It’s recommended for experienced hikers with good footwear.

4. Casibari Rocks

In central Aruba, the Casibari Rock Formation offers an accessible climb to panoramic views. A stairway leads to the top, which is suitable for all ages. From here, you can enjoy views of the island and the Hooiberg hill. It’s a quick and rewarding climb!

5. Hooiberg Hill

Hooiberg Hill, the second tallest point on Aruba, stands at 165 meters (541 feet). The paved stairs to the top provide a good workout, taking around 20 minutes for fit hikers. • Time: ~30 minutes

6. Ayo Rocks

Ayo Rocks is a fun family-friendly hike featuring large boulders and ancient petroglyphs from the Arawak people. The rock formations include caves and passageways to explore, though watch out for wasp nests. This site is free and open around the clock.

7. Noordkaap Trail

Starting from the Natural Bridge parking lot, this trail leads to Blackstone Beach, known for its smooth black rocks and the unusual Tripod Bridge. The hike is short but provides access to unique coastal features. For a longer adventure, continue to Daimari Beach and Conchi Natural Pool.

  • Distance: 2.7 km (1.7 mi) roundtrip
  • Time: 45 – 60 minutes

8. Westpunt Trail

The Westpunt Trail takes you to Aruba’s northwestern tip, offering coastal views and sand dunes. The trail is flat and easy, though unmarked, so you can adjust the length of your hike. For a longer option, loop back via the road to the California Lighthouse.

  • Distance: Approximately 3.5 km (2.2 mi) roundtrip

9. Dos Playa Trail

Dos Playa features two scenic beaches within Arikok National Park. The trail is rough but rewarding, leading to quiet beaches with dramatic waves. The first beach is about a 20-minute hike, and the second beach is another 10–15 minutes further.

  • Distance: 4 km (2.5 mi) roundtrip
  • Time: ~1 hour

10. Jamanota Hill

Jamanota Hill is Aruba’s highest point, standing at 188 meters (617 feet). You can drive most of the way up and then hike the rest. The view from the top is fantastic, making it a great spot for sunrise or sunset. Note that there might be a fence with a hole you need to cross.
